Waitematā Hui for Health
Our healthcare system is in a state of crisis. Our hospitals are overwhelmed and under-resourced. Our GPs have no capacity or ability or care for our communities. In Waitemata health district, North Shore Hospital and Waitakere are some of the worst-staffed and resourced hospitals in the country. West and North Aucklanders are all feeling the impact.
This is not inevitable or normal, it is the result of political decisions, and we can change course. We are fighting for a fully funded culturally appropriate public health system that meets the needs of all New Zealanders.
As Nurses and Healthcare Assistants working at Waitemata Health District, we see the impacts of underfunding every single day. We work in unsafe conditions, without the staff or resources to meet patient needs and see people and whanau fall through the widening gaps in our system with increasing frequency.
We need to act now. We are Nurses and Caregivers inviting West and North Aucklanders to join us for a community hui on the state of crisis in our health system. We have asked all local MPs in the Waitemata catchment to attend and will be asking them to make commitments to us and their constituents on futureproofing and properly funding our public health system.
We need to know where our local representatives stand on these issues, and we need them to commit to advocating for it within their parties and in parliament.
Join us and let’s make our voices heard:
