Our health system
is in crisis

Primary care is stretched beyond capacity. Hospitals are overwhelmed, while aged care and Māori and iwi providers are struggling to meet growing demand in their communities. Too many patients and whānau can't get the health care they need. Deliberate underfunding and consistent unsafe staffing are putting lives at risk.

Nurses, midwives and health care assistants are on the frontline of the health crisis. Every day they go above and beyond to care for their patients. But burning out our health workers is not sustainable and jeopardises the safety of their patients.

The 2026 General Election is a vote on the future of quality public health care in Aotearoa.
