Gisborne stop-work meeting
Friday, June 13, 2025 at 11:30 AM · Poutama Room, Gisborne Hospital in Gisborne, New Zealand
NZNO members at Te Whatu Ora have voted overwhelmingly to reject the employer's collective agreement offer.
Mass stop work meetings will be held 3-13 June where NZNO members will walk off the floor and plan for industrial action.
Together we need to let Te Whatu Ora and the Government know that nurses, midwives and health care assistants at Te Whatu Ora demand better.
- Paid union meetings are a right union members have under Section 26 of the Employment Relations Act and Clause 21 of the collective agreement. Union members have the right to attend a properly notified union meeting on ordinary pay if they would otherwise be working.
- Te Whatu Ora has been officially notified that these meetings are taking place.
- The Act requires us to make arrangements with the employer to ensure that the employer’s business is maintained during any union meeting
- We must provide the employer with a list of all those who attended a stop work meeting.
- This meeting will be held onsite. The meeting will be an hour in duration but because it is a Section 26 paid union meetings you have a right of travel time (up to half hour) either side of the meeting to attend.
